The artist behind the hand-painted illustrations
Hello there!
My name is Marianne Scheel. I originally trained as a graphic designer and have worked in the field for over 20 years. In 2015, I began practicing drawing and painting with the goal of shifting my focus toward art and developing my skills to a level where I could create illustrations for commercial use. Today, I make a full-time living from my creative business, selling products that I design and produce myself, all based on my artwork.
I’m sometimes asked whether I see myself as a graphic designer or an artist — and honestly, it’s a really good question. I’m a creative soul who draws on my background in graphic design to create products featuring my art. That combination has been key to building a business that supports both myself and my little family.
THE VALUE AND WORK BEHIND EVERY SINGLE illustration
Each illustration involves countless hours of work, deep passion for craftsmanship — and, most importantly, a love for the natural subjects I portray. I find inspiration in the garden, along roadsides, or in nearby fields. Sometimes I pick the flowers and bring them home to use as direct reference; other times, I take photos and use them as a starting point.
Every illustration on my products is hand-painted in watercolor and takes between 10 and 30 hours to draw and paint — depending on the size and complexity.
Once the painting is complete, I begin the digitization process and use the artwork in the design and reproduction of my products, which I also produce myself.
MY BIGGEST WISH AND PERSONAL MISSION
My hope is that my illustrations bring peace, energy, and joy into everyday life — and remind us of everything that blooms and thrives outside, even on dark winter days. Whether it’s a thoughtful gift, a heartfelt greeting, or simply a beautiful detail for the home, I want my art to make a difference.
It’s my mission and dream to show — both myself and other creative souls — that it is possible to make a living through creativity. I want to help break down the idea that art isn't a "real" profession on par with more traditional careers.
So when I say, “Thank you for your purchase,” I truly mean it — because you’re not only helping me support myself and my family through creativity, but also making my dream and personal mission a reality.
If you're a customer of mine: thank you, from the bottom of my heart ❤️
